Introduction to Wimzie's House
Wimzie's House ran on PBS from December 1998 through July 2000. Some stations still run repeats. The house is Wimzie's day care and home. Shows were a half hour long. At the end, there were "Tips from Wimzies's House." The general theme was Wimzie and the other characters learning to share and care about each other.
Wimzie is a female half dragon and half bird. She is five years old and has purple hair. She tends to favor purple clothes. Her motto is "No problem!" She is a natural born leader.
Wimzie's grandmother is named Yaya. She is about 150 years old. The day care is her business. She enjoys telling stories to the children and doing other fun activities with them. She has a great memory and can tell about things from long, long ago, when she was young.
Wimzie's parents are Rouso who is a dragon and Gratziella who is a bird. Rouso is a fireman. He enjoys working in his garden and taking Wimzie fishing. He also likes to cook, but for some dragon reason can not breath fire. Gratziella is a pilot. She likes reading to Wimzie and her little brother Bo. Wimzie has an aunt named Alice and an uncle named Mario.
Bo, Wimzie's baby brother, is a real challenge for Yaya because he is always getting in trouble. He is about eighteen months old.
Wimzie's best friend is Jonas. He is six years old and wants to be a scientist. He also attends the day care. He likes to play detective. He wears glasses and one of those little beanies with a propeller on top. He has a dirt collection. He is the "brain" of the day care group. Jonas's little sister is Loulou. She is three years old and wants to be bigger. She has purple hair like Wimzie, but Loulou's hair is in a big, vertical pony tail.
Horace is also in the day care, but he doesn't like to come. He's four years old and loves to eat. He also enjoys playing checkers and drawing. He is courageous when he needs to be.
One of the next door neighbors is Mrs. Ferris. She has a cat. Mr. Mellonball is another neighbor, but he is moving away from the neighborhood. Mitzi is a neighbor child who is a friend of Wimzie.
