Introduction to Sagwa

Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat, is a PBS animated adventure for five to eight year-old children. It takes place in China. Sagwa has the perspective of an eight year-old child discovering the world, having fun and learning many important lessons. The stories involve Sagwa, her family and friends. It is based on the children's book, Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat, by best selling author Amy Tan.

Through Sagwa's humorous adventures, children enter the culture of China as well as the cultures of children all over the world today. Discovering the similarities and differences that they share with others sparks children's interest in and appreciation of a wider world. Enjoying the cats' adventures in a beautiful, far-away land, children can learn strategies for dealing with their own fears, telling the truth in uncomfortable circumstances, standing up for their beliefs, making friends, dealing with peer pressure, and many other challenges. The bottom line is that kids love the Sagwa videos and learn from them.
