Introduction to Barney
Barney is a six foot purple dinosaur who stars in the PBS show Barney and Friends. Barney is a very cuddly Tyrannosaurus Rex. He often is joined by his friends Baby Bop, a baby Triceratops, and her brother BJ, a Protoceratops.
Young children love Barney, and he is become widely popular. There are countless Barney and Friends toys, songs and movies. Barney was created by mother and former teacher Sheryl Leach. At its peak, Barney's TV show was the most watched preschool series on public television, with 13.5 million viewers weekly. The show appeared in 20 countries on six continents.
